Our Story
La Knowlton Co.’s founding principle is: “Life is rough, but the beer is smooth.”
We believe that no matter who you are or what kind of life you lead, a good beer can wash away any shit a rough day brings. With that in mind, our microbrewery aims to brew universally accessible beer. The kind of stuff that anyone will enjoy—something both amateurs will appreciate and enthusiasts will rave about.
A visit to Knowlton, Quebec is not complete without a visit to La Knowlton Co.
Since 2019, we have called Knowlton, Quebec home. With the founders deeply rooted in the community, we happily established our brewery here. Knowlton is the kind of place that creates joyful memories, and visiting the brewery accomplishes just that.
Lifting the community is core to the business. La Knowlton Co.’s name inextricably links the brewery to the town. And, since the beer gets stocked across the province, the Knowlton name reaches more potential visitors. So, as awareness for La Knowlton Co. increases, so too will the region’s popularity. Ultimately, we would love the town and brewery to experience symbiotic growth.

We love stories and we tell them well.
La Knowlton Co.’s love for telling stories extends from hanging and chatting by the campfire to enjoying the multi-sensory experience of our products. Our packaging is inspired by storytelling in comic strip format. Each beer illustrates a monochromatic 3-panelled story, reminiscent of a Sunday cartoon. Paying homage to the colours seen in superhero comics, cans are printed in vibrant colours. Take a look at, or better yet, have a taste of any La Knowlton Co. signature beers and experience the brand ethos—“Life is rough, but the beer is smooth.”

An introvert who can be mistaken as an extrovert. But, unshy in front of a crowd. When it comes to work preferences, taking on small tasks one at a time is how best to solve a seemingly big, complex issue. Happiest when at home watching a movie and relaxing with my partner and my animals.
Q:Favorite Knowlton Co. brew?
My favourite Knowlton Co. would be the English Porter and or the perfectly temp Cream Ale.
Q:Best time to enjoy a beer?
The best time for me to have a beer is when chatting with friends. Since the pandemic, I drink a lot less.
Q:What’s a must-do when visiting Knowlton?
Other than the brewery, a nice challenging, quick hike up Mount Echo.
Q:Ideal pizza toppings?
I like it simple. Cheese and pepperoni with a nice little ranch sauce.
Q:Sweet or salty?
Salty. Poutine is my poison.
Q:Coffee, tea or something pressed in the morning?
Good old drip coffee every morning. Espresso in the afternoon. And tea if I’m cold before bed.
Q:Are you singing in the shower? If so, what tune?
If I could sing without making ears bleed, I would. However, since I can’t sing, I dance.
Q:Any activity to get the heart beating?
Chopping wood or moving heavy things.
Q:What's Youtube recommending you?
Restoration and woodworking videos, silly contests, and some Dude Perfect, How Ridiculous, and Demo Ranch.
Q:Is there a podcast playing in your earphones?
If I do listen to a podcast, it's murder-mystery or history-based, but I rarely put on a podcast.
Q:Any books or magazines in your life?
No. I don't read good. So, there's nothing I read on the regular. However, I do get into audiobook moods, usually when a new Malcolm Gladwell book is released.
Q:What meal are you indulging in when it’s your birthday?
Slow cook BBQ with a nice creamy coleslaw on the side. Or, a big prime rib bone-in roast.

Organizer by way of lists—especially in the kitchen. When not slinging pizza dough, the Township dream life is being lived out with the wife and two girls.
Q:Favorite Knowlton Co. brew?
My favorite brew would be the Traditional Cream Ale because it goes down so easily.
Q:Best time to enjoy a beer?
After working in the yard nothing beats a cold beer.

Hanging out at the beach while enjoying a picnic and a great view.

I’m useless before I down a double cappuccino.
Q:Are you singing in the shower? If so, what tune?
I spare everyone from my singing except my daughters who are subject to my rhymes.

I enjoy late-night stretching by the fireside.
Q:What's Youtube recommending you?
Action / Marvel movie trailers and knife smithing videos.

Why read a book when you can watch the movie?
Q:What meal are you indulging in when it’s your birthday?
All you can eat lobster and oysters.

Q:Favorite Knowlton Co. brew?
It really depends on where and what time of day. I would go with a breakfast stout –say Thursday morning at the World Pond Hockey Championship– and then a West Coast IPA, cause that’s where the KCo. dream started, and finish it off with a crisp clean Cream Ale or 2.
Q:Best time to enjoy a beer?
It’s beer o’clock all the time (but that won’t fly at home) so a nice cold beer after [insert reason here].
Q:What’s a must-do when visiting Knowlton?
If you enjoy golf try and book yourself a round at the KGC. Go and check out the Fokker at the museum. But if you really want to have some fun come and enjoy a pint or 2 on the KCo. terrace.
Q:Ideal pizza toppings?
Definitely keep chicken off my pizza. But, I love spicy capicola. And don’t forget the cheese!
Q:Sweet or salty?
I must admit I love ice cream but please no nuts. One day my homemade ice cream might find its way onto the KCo. menu.
Q:Coffee, tea or something pressed in the morning?
Coffee, but if someone wants to freshly squeeze some fresh orange juice I can get around that, too.
Q:Are you singing in the shower? If so, what tune?
I am the worst singer in the world but I dream every day that one day when I grab that mic, all the practice in my car will surface and Bruce Springsteen will contact me.
Q:Any activity to get the heart beating?
If you want to laugh ask me to skip rope but if you want me gasping for air get me to swim in a lake.
Q:What's Youtube recommending you?
Not a big Youtuber but it would definitely be the Kamado Joe's cooking channel.
Q:Is there a podcast playing in your earphones?
I love Spitting Chicklets. La Poche Bleue is pretty good, too.
Q:Any books or magazines in your life?
A big fan of Harlen Coben novels. Just discovered a new author Wilbur Smith who I really enjoy. The GIST online newsletter is a quick read on sports. Highly recommend (and my daughter Mel works for them).
Q:What meal are you indulging in when it’s your birthday?
I love sushi. But, if I am going out for my birthday, I am going for a big, juicy Tomahawk rib steak at Grinder.
